Christmas Pot
Jack, Fay, Bob Reilly, Adele, Chris Curry (Moldywarps)
Gentle, though long, walk up in mist and fog straight to the entrance. Chris and I went in rigging. With 5 re-belays on the first pitch, we were able to keep everyone moving to the next obstacle – an awkward slot and a constricted-take off.
More re-belays and down to the junction with Grange Rigg. An impressive bit of passage.
Some bouldery stuff and the final 2 pitches into the next chamber – or what I call the “last” chamber, having never had much wish to go through the Drainpipe to the end.
We were all of one mind, so Chris, Adele and I set off out, with Bob and Fay heroically de-rigging. Smoothly and efficiently out, though a sobering moment when a small rock I had dislodged dropped down past Bob hitting Fay below. No damage, but a reminder that care is always needed.
And just that walk back…
3 hours, and as Adele says, “a cracking trip”.
